Crafty Saturday on Monday!

Hey guys sorry I didn't get to post on Saturday my Granny and Poppy came into town to visit and they just left today :( But I was so happy to see them and spend time with them I missed them so much! :) Anyways the craft for Saturday is a crayon wreath. I got the idea from Pinterest and there are so many cute crayon wreaths on there y'all should check them out but this is what I did.
You will need:
Cardboard (big enough to make a wreath frame out of)
3 boxes of crayons
Hot glue gun
Fabric of your choice
Scissors
Ribbon(optional)

The first thing you need to do is get your cardboard slab and cut a big enough circle to make a wreath then cut out the inside of the circle it will look like this..

I forgot to take a picture of it by itself but now you see that once you make your wreath the width that you want it ( I sort of wish I would have made mine a little wider. ) take your fabric strips and wrap it around the wreath. This is important because the fabric helps the wreath become sturdier. ( the crayons are heavy once you put them all on there.)
So once you wrap your fabric and hot glue it to the cardboard frame you start by hot gluing the back of the crayon and putting it vertically on the wreath.

Once you have put the first crayon on you need to turn the wreath counterclockwise just a bit so that when you put the second crayon down it looks vertical to you if you don't turn it and just start gluing the crayons will tend to slant the more you circle around the wreath so if you turn the wreath, glue the crayon, and place it on vertically then the crayons will always be strait. Once you are done it will look like this!!

I then carefully turned it over and put a loop of fabric on it and hot glued it.

After that I looked online for a tutorial on how to make a pompom bow and found one on YouTube. Then I wanted to personalize it so I made an A out of cardboard and wrapped it in the same ribbon I made the bow. I hot glued the bow and A to the crayons and there you have it!! I love it! What do you think? Comment below if you have any questions.

Crafty Saturday!!

Ok so I know it's not Saturday but I was just thinking about all the crafts I want to do, I don't really have time for them but I am going to try and make time for them. I will try and do them during the week but they will most likely get done on Saturdays then I will post them on here for y'all to enjoy. I'm so excited for this new idea I just couldn't wait a whole THREE days to tell y'all. So for my first crafty Saturday craft I will give you something simple I don't have any pictures making this one (unfortunately) but it is relatively easy and if you have any questions just ask in the comments below!!

So I got this general idea from Pinterest but totally made it over tweaking it for my "cheapness" lol you will need:
A sturdy cardboard box. ( I used a diaper box)
Scrapbook Paper
Cooking skewers (I used 3)
Hot glue gun or modge podge (I used a hot glue gun because that's what I had)
Scissors
Ribbon

This ribbon holder was totally free for me yay!! All I did was take the diaper box and cut off the top flaps. Then I got a couple different designs of scrapbook paper that looked good together and used the solid blue design for the inside back and the striped design for the outside of the box. I kind of wish that I would have used the solid blue around the inside of the box too so that the card board wouldn't be showing but I didn't. I think I'm going to make a new one as you can see i am running out of room and need a bigger box. Anyways I got three cooking skewers and poked them through the box at the position I wanted. Took them out and wrapped the box with scrapbooking paper and then poked the skewers back through and vola' a ribbon holder!! Side note make sure that when you poke your skewers through stager them so that when your ribbons are hanging there they aren't touching. Any questions comment below :)
This is the website where i got the idea from that was pinned on Pinterest. Of course her ribbon holders are so much cuter than mine but I did the best I could with what I had :) enjoy!!

D.I.Y CHEAP Christmas Wreath!!

Hey guys sorry I didn't get back sooner. I got all my laundry put away, dinner made, and cleaned up the kitchen. By the time all was said and done it was bedtime for my boys. Plus I rented Snow White and the Huntsmen so I watched that it was awesome!! (If you like the fantasy sort of stuff you would definitely like this!!!) it was nice to sit back and relax while the boys were sleeping and watch a movie have a little time to myself. :) Anyways on with scheduled programming. So this year for Christmas I am doing a lot of D.I.Y's it's just cheaper that way and. I love doing it so it will be fun for me. :) I will probably blog about the gifts I'm doing so keep your eyes open for some cool stuff!! Of course most of the ideas will probably come from Pinterest but I also like to put my own spin on things so I will link where I got the idea from and then you can do it anyway you choose :) So this gift is for my Great Ones (my great grandparents) I thought this would be a nice gift for them to hang on their door. What you will need is:
•Hot Glue gun
•Scissor's
•Wire Cutters (if needed)
•Wire Hanger (anyone think of Madea when you read that cause I do! Hah)
•Ornaments of any color shape or size just make sure they have the loop top not the string.
•Garland of any color
•Ribbon (optional)
•Center Piece (optional)

So I planned on making my Great Ones a wreath from the beginning and originally I was going to buy the actual wreath frame and figure out how to do it that way. But what other way is best than saving money right? So I thought of the millions of wire hangers we collect from dry cleaning (they were starting to become a nuisance) and then I remembered the wire hanger wreath I did last year (it was made from just ornaments) perfect!!  I was at the dollar tree when I found these cute ornaments 5 for 1$ I mean you cant beat that so I grabbed 4 cylinders and then I saw the cutest peace sign there too and though it would be a really cute center piece for it. I already had some green garland from christmas' before.

Now the first thing you do is take the wire hanger untwist it and straiten it out. I did not need wire cutters because I wanted my wreath to be big. But if you are wanting a smaller wreath then you will need them to cut it to the length that you want.

Now you just work the hanger around until it makes a circle like so :)

After I made my frame I took the ornaments and cut off the string that the ornaments hang from. Then I took off the top and it was hot glue time!! I hot glued all the way around the outside top of the ornament then placed the plastic top back on it and gave it a little twist so that the glue would seep in between every hole.

Once I finished all of the ornaments I strung them through the wire hanger and twisted the hanger at the top to form a complete circle.                                              WARNING: try not to jerk the ornaments around too hard or this might happen! OH NO!
Then I started on the garland. At first I thought it might be easier to put the garland on first then the ornaments so I could just place the ornaments on which I guess you could do if you wanted to hot glue the ornaments to the garland but to me stringing the ornaments through makes them more secure and less likely to fall off. Anyways I started by hot gluing and wrapping the garland around where I had twisted the hanger together. Once I had twisted it around where I felt like I had enough garland I pushed one of the ornaments up against the garland. Then I twisted more garland around a few more times and pushed another ornament against that one and kept on wrapping garland and pushing ornaments up until the whole thing was wrapped :)

LIKE THIS!!!!!
So I decided that I wanted to put some pretty bows on it and had this silk wire ribbon its a creme color and I love it!

So I went ahead and made like three bows of different size and shape something to make it look original.
Well there it is!!!! After I hot glued the bows onto the wreath I tied the Peace sign in the middle and hid the tie inside the garland, then I took some twine and made a little loop in the back and hot glued it so
you can hang it on a hook!!

Well there you have it a cheap easy way to make a beautiful Christmas wreath! How do you guys like it? Do y'all have any cool D.I.Y ideas?
